The Scholar Support Programme (SSP), part of the  'New Initiatives in Higher Education’ initiated by the  Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Kerala aims at imparting additional support to students in  curricular areas of weakness. The pilot phase of the programme initiated in 2011-12 academic year. The programme implemented in the college during 2012-13 for 5 departments.  A total of 50 students benefited from the programme in the first phase. The subjects identified for the initial phase are mathematics, sociology, economics, English, commerce etc. Apart from that a module is conducted for General English paper for the first year students from various disciplines. A batch of students under each subject comprising 8-10 students such as to enhance the personal attention. About 10 special lecture hours conducted for the selected students on selected difficult papers. Apart from remedial classes, study materials are also provided for the students using the fund allocated for the same. In 2013-14 the programme extended to 100 students such that students from IVth and Vth semester are also covered in the programme. Majority of the students identified in the first semester during 2012-13 are also selected for the IIIrd semester during 2013-14. Various measures are provided to enhance student support for the programme. In addition to study materials, a travel fund is allocated in 2013-14 to attend the classes during weekends and holydays. Tea and snacks are provided for the evening classes. Teachers from the college are actively participated to prepare a question bank for IIIrd and IVth semester students during 2013-14. The printed copy of the question bank is given for reference in the library. Also a softcopy of the question bank in a CD is provided to the IIIrd and IVth semester students.

In 2014-15 the programme is extended to final year students also. Five core subjects from the final year are identified based on the difficulty and result analysis. A total for 150 students are benefitted from the programme during 2014-15. The students from 2013-14 are promoted for 2014-15 apart from a fresh selection for the Ist semester based on their qualifying examination percentages. A stationary kit, study materials, travel grant and tea and snacks are provided for student support. Teachers from the college are actively participated for a question bank preparation work shop for Vth semester during November 2014.  During 2015-16, the programme completed with 150 students and 5 identified subjects.  External mentoring and State level motivation camp are introduced during 2016-17. 150 student and 5 subjects are identified for the programme during 2016-17.
